🍨Afghan rice pudding (شیربرنج) within 30 minutes. Shier berenj is a delicous and easy afghan dessert. I made my own vegan version of this dessert. You can swap almond milk with plain milk if you prefer that.
-150g risotto rice
-150 ml of water
-1/2 liter of almond milk (or plain milk)
-50 g chopped almonds
-5 full tbsp Honey or sugar (for not too sweet taste if you want it sweeter add more)
-1/2 tsp rose water
-1/2 tsp ground cardomam
-1 tsp grated orange peel
Before you start wash the rice with warm water. Now cook the rice in 150 ml water on low heat. It takes about 20 minutes for rice to soften. Then you can add the milk, almonds, grated orange peel & orange juice and cardemom together with honey. Let it simmer for another 10 minutes until the milk is absorbed by the rice. Add to finish the rose water.
You could eat when it is still hot. But it is served cold. So have a bit of patients and let it cool down and put in the fridge (the hardest part is waiting 😁).
For decoration I used few dried roses and orange peel.
