Delicous deep fried balls of grounded cheackpeas and vegetables. Perfect for a meat free day.
Side note preparing falafel (with dried chickpeas) takes a bit more time, so it is better to prepare more of the mixture so you can store it in the freezer and have it ready-made.
-2 cups of dried chickpeas
-4 garlic cloves
-1 medium onion
-Small bunch of parsley
– half cup falafel seasoning
– salt to taste
-half tsp soda backing powder
– 1 cup chickpea flour or breadcrumbs
-sunflower oil (for baking)
For the tahini dipsaus I used:
-4 tbsp yogurt
-2 tbsp tahini
-1 tbsp sambal
Soak the chickpeas in a bowl of cold water for 24 hours and change the water once in the meantime. After that drain the chickpeas well.
Then place all the ingredients in a food processor and mix all the ingredients well.
(I use my old-fashioned kitchen machine 💪😊).
If the mixture is still a bit too wet, you can add a little more chickpea flour to it. When you have a nice firm mixture start rolling with your hands small balls.
For frying take a pan (I use a wok pan) and pour enough oil. Make sure the oil is hot. Becayse if the oil is not hot enough, the falafel will observed a lot the oil.
Then carefully add the falafel in the pan and fry until golden brown.
♡Serve with bread and different dipsauses like chatni, sambal or selfmade tahini sauses .
I like to serve the falafels with a fresh and tasty salad.
